Common questions

The numbers are zero or missing

Open the Health app, go to Sharing › Apps › ReapWell, and make sure every category is turned on. Calories in come from your nutrition app, so that app also needs permission to write to Apple Health. Calories burned come from your Apple Watch; make sure it has synced recently.

The Apple Health permission screen didn’t appear

iOS shows that screen only once per install. If you have already answered it, ReapWell tells you so and offers a link to the Health app, where you can change what is shared under Sharing › Apps › ReapWell.

How are calories out calculated?

Calories out equals your resting burn plus the active energy your Apple Watch records. By default the resting burn is a full-day estimate from your profile (the Mifflin-St Jeor formula). In Profile you can switch to Apple Health’s resting energy instead, which accumulates through the day.

How is the activity level suggested?

ReapWell looks at your last four weeks of workouts and daily active energy in Apple Health and picks the level that fits. It is only a suggestion; you can choose any level.

The widget says “No data”

Open ReapWell once so it can read Apple Health and share today’s summary with the widget. Widgets refresh when the app does and about every half hour on their own.

The watch app or complication is empty

Open ReapWell on your iPhone first so it can send your baseline to the watch. If the watch app is not installed, open the Watch app on your iPhone and add ReapWell under Available Apps.

Does ReapWell write to Apple Health?

No. It only reads. Your nutrition app and Apple Watch remain the sources of truth.
